Sometimes it’s a NEMA 14-50 outlet — cheaper, flexible, and you can unplug it and take it with you if you move. It suits most chargers that draw up to 40 amps. Sometimes it’s a hardwired connection — it handles higher continuous output, looks cleaner on the wall, and a lot of the beefier 48-amp units require it.
